Dalton Park Outlet, the largest outlet shopping centre in the North East, hosts over 65 world-famous brands at up to 70% off and spans 55 acres of vibrant, dog-friendly landscaped parkland.
Recognising retail’s environmental impact, Dalton Park already runs one of the largest retail solar PV systems in the region feeding power into public areas and reducing CO₂ emissions by over 64 tonnes annually.
With shoppers arriving by car, bus, and on foot, Dalton Park aimed to broaden active travel options, especially e-bike. They needed a secure, lockable bike storage solution with built-in solar-powered e-bike charging to encourage sustainable travel, reduce car emissions, and elevate the guest experience.
Working with Intelligen and under Destination North East England’s Green Travel Plan, Dalton Park installed a powerPOD solar-powered e-bike charging point - the first of its kind at a retail site along the NCN1 cycle route which attracts “more cycling tourists in an ever-growing bike tourism market and will help to increase dwell time at the centre as visitors take a moment to shop while they recharge their bikes”.
